Overview of Group MailersWhen you get into marketing, especially on the internet, you will need Group Mailers, period! There are many around, so you have a lot of programs to choose from. Email is the life blood of Internet marketing. Without it, Internet marketing would probably shrivel up and die. There are many way to obtain leads
It is this last method that this tutorial will focus on. I have chosen the WorldCast group mailer to show you. The reasons for this are:-
That pretty much covers all of the main criteria for the program. Downloading and Installing WorldCastThe website has easy to follow instructions for downloading and installing the program. I recommend you select on the of the zipped up versions. If you need help on unzipping the files, take a look here. Starting WorldCastOnce you have installed WorldCast, you will have the opportunity of using a Wizard to starting the program, until you become more familiar with it. The tutorial that follows guides you through this process. When you start WorldCast for the first time, you will see the wizard that starts the program for you.
For now, I suggest that you leave the 'Run this wizard at startup' box checked, until you are familiar with the program. From here, click on the <Next> button.
Type in your name as you would like it to appear in the 'from' part of an email message that you send out. Type in a valid email address in the 'E-mail' field. It is important that you use a 'real' email address here, or some of your messages will not get through. However, it is equally important that you use an email address that you can dump email to, because you could get a lot of return mail, and you won't want to clog up your system. I recommend that you use a specific email address for this purpose, The one that I use is here. When you are done, click on the <Next> button.
As you will probably be aware, most people can receive email in HTML or in text form. Whilst you are getting to grips with WorldCast, I suggest that you stick to Text for now, and experiment with HTML later on. Click on the <Next> button.
As you can see from the on screen help, the DNS server is slower and more reliable. I would also recommend that you use this setting, because it is easier to set up as well. When you are done, click on the <Next> button.
As long as you are connected to the Internet when you do this, WorldCast will set itself up for you. Click on the <Detect> button, and WorldCast will find and enter the name of your DNS server. When you are done, click on the <Next> button.
The purpose of this exercise is to send email, so that is the option that you must choose. When you are done, click on the <Next> button.
Most sources that you receive email addresses from will send you the list in a file, or in an email. If the information is in an email, you will copy it to a file, so you shouldn't need to type anything. The only time I can think that you will need to type names and addresses in, is when you collect addresses for a personal list. So, we will choose to 'Import from a file'. When you are done, click on the <Next> button. You will then see a dialog from which you can locate and select your leads file from.
As you can see, you can select the file type from the drop down list. Select the file which contains your leads and click on the <Open> button.
From this dialog, you can tell WorldCast which field is the email address and which field (if any) is the name field. Many lists that you receive will not have the name information, so it is entirely possible that the name field is blank. Some files that you receive will have header information. The 'First line' field allows you to tell WorldCast this, so that the information can be ignored. When you are done, click on the <Ok> button.
Say <Yes> here.
And then we are done with the Wizard. You will now be taken to the main program. Saving Your ProjectThe first thing to do is to save your email list as a project, unless you are going to send your message straight away. Because most of the messages that you will be sending are to FFA (Free For All) leads, you will only be allowed to send a message once.
To save the project, click on
Adding Your MessageAdding a message to send is very straight forward.
You can save the message for future use by clicking on
Sending Your MessageClick on Tools, and then Send as shown in the screen shot below
This message will then be sent to all of the email addresses in your project
And that's it, you are done. Some Time SaversWhen you send email to FFA leads, you should always put some sort of disclaimer on the message that you send. Most suppliers will always give you a disclaimer to use. I suggest that you get each disclaimer and add it to a blank message and save it, as MyFFA for example. Save each disclaimer for each different provider of leads. That way, when you create a new message, you can load the disclaimer before typing your new message, and then save the resulting message to a new file. It will then be ready with a send. |
