Creating a Sales Button in PayPal

Once you have a PayPal account, you have the ability to create sales buttons to go on your websites. This system is completely flexible and gives you access to an excellent merchant service, allowing you to receive funds (and pay commissions if you want to) for products and services that you sell.

To simplify this for you, I have outlined the process below for you:-

1. Log into your PayPal account. You might need to click on a <Goto My Account> button.
2. Click on the 'Merchant Tools' tab at the top

3. There is a section called 'Website Payments'. Click on the 'Buy Now Buttons'.

4. You should be in the 'Selling Single Items' section (as shown below).

Select a suitable button by clicking on its radio button, and then click the <Continue> button.

5. Give the Item Name a description anything you liked. It should be meaningful to the purchaser, because they will see this in their receipt.
6. Select an ID number. This is really more a record for you, so it could be SAS1 (for example).
7. Add the price, 19.95 for example.
8. From the dropdown list, select the currency, which will probably be US dollars.
9. Select the buyers country (which is where YOU live).

10. Where it says 'Choose a Button', if you like the default, then just leave it alone. If you want to change it (or just want to see the other buttons), click on the 'Choose a different button' link. If you do this, you will see a selection of buttons similar to that shown below.

Then click <Continue>.
11. You could choose to stop now and PayPal will create a button that you can add to your web site. Alternatively, you can elect to add a bit more. If for example, you want to send your buyer to a thank you page, then click on the button. If you did this, you would see a screen similar to that shown below:-
12. To create a thank you page, just create a simple page (we can send you one if you want), post it up on your web site somewhere, and tell the screen above where you the page is ('Successful Payment URL:').

13. There are other options here, but I don't really think that you need any of them.
14. Press the <Create Button Now> button. PayPal will give you some HTML code which you can paste into your web site. You will then be ready to go. The screen will look something like that shown below:-
