On Test - The Email PromoterThe Email Promoter is a tool that claims to generate 1000's of messages for you a day. You can use the messages to promote anything that you like, but of course it's likely that you will be looking to promote your own site or an affiliate program. What is Email Promoter? The Email Promoter is a tiny directory based search engine. As a search engine owner you are allowed to confirm the submission of a web site on your search engine by sending out a one-time confirmation email to the webmaster or business owner that his web site is listed in your search engine. You are allowed to include a promotional message in this confirmation email, which is the message that you program into the system. The system is fully automated in that you set it up once and then forget about it. You can of course alter the out-going message at any time. Your Email Promoter will send out its promotional confirmation messages fully automatically 1, 2, 3 or even 8 or 10 days later! In other words the web site owner who submitted his web site to the search engines will receive a confirmation email 10 days later in his mailbox. Your message is delivered alone and will have the full attention of the receiver. This is the claim of the program owners, so does it work? Well, that is the purpose of the test that follows. What I would say is that this system is rather more unusual then the standard FFA page listings, whereby someone who is posting adverts, agrees to receive adverts in return. This is rather different in that the user is submitting their site to a search engine. The activity is different, so could the mind set of the person posting the site be different too? What normally happens with FFA pages is that people who post use throw away email addresses to avoid all of the return mail. The action in submitting to a search engine is different, so it is possible that we might have more success. Let's find out. The TestIn order to be able to carry out as accurate a comparison as possible, I use the same ad for the same program for all tests. The ad that I use does produce results for me, but more importantly, gives a level playing field to all the programs that I test. Unfortunately, I have not (until very recently) had my own site to test. The advantage of having control of your own site is that you can add code to it to get more meaningful data from the Ad Tracking software that is used to generate your stats. We can get an idea from affiliate programs however (such as was used on this test) as to the number of Click Thru's (users clicking on your ad links) that have been generated. Because the nature of the program is to set and forget, I didn't have any control over sending the adverts out. There is also a delay, which can be set by you of up to 20 days, so it is possible that no significant results might be seen in the first month. Thereafter however, emails will be sent out on a daily basis, so any 30 period should give us a reasonable snapshot of the product. Here is a summary of clicks attained for the period 1st June 2004 to 30th June 2004.
I think that this is fairly self explanatory. Email Promoter is included in the results for the FFA pages. Just as a point of reference, unique clicks indicate single clicks for any one IP address or individual. So if someone clicks on the ad link twice, the click would only be recorded once. Raw clicks indicate the total number of clicks that an ad link has received for a given period, including duplications. So, this tells us that the ad I have used does perform, so let's look a little deeper at the detail for the FFA pages.
The results are very striking. This tells us that Email Promoter outperformed all other similar tools for the given period by a factor of 10 as a minimum. This is a phenomenal result. Once must keep an open mind about these things, because results can be manipulated, but a study of my sign-ups for the same period reveals that 90 people signed up. These are free sign ups mind, but they are now highly qualified and targeted leads because they voluntarily joined and requested information. SummaryAll in all, the results from Email Promoter indicate that it is an exceptional tool. It is easy to set up, and is pretty much maintenance free. It can be a bit daunting waiting for the first results to come through, so you should be patient and expect to run the program for a minimum of two months. After that, the results are exceptional, as you can see. The cost is $20 a month which makes this tool exceptional value for money. This is definitely being added to the Magical Marketing Engine.
