Create A Database In MysqlTo create a database in mysql is not as complex as it sounds. Yes, you will need to have access to your sites cpanel, but once you know the steps involved, creating a mysql database is a breeze. The first thing that you need to be able to do is to locate your cpanel. If you don't know where this is, you will need to contact your ISP, because you will not be able to create a database without this information. You should be given a URL which will take you where you need to go. Once you have this url, you should see a screen similar to that shown below: Within this group of icons, you should see one which refers to MySQL, similar to the image below. Click on this icon to access the MYSql creation tools. You should see the following items near the top of the screen.
And further down, you should see the field and button to add a database Once you have decided on a name for this database, type it in
Then click on the <Add Db> button on the right hand side of the field. You should then be taken to a screen similar to that shown below.
What you should now see is the database listed, similar to that shown below
Creating A Database UserThe next stage is to create a database user. This is a requirement of the process, that an entity is created to access the database. Look for the following field and button.
And then click on the <Add User> button. You should end up at a screen similar to that shown below.
Click on the Go Back link, and you will then see your database details
Adding a User to the DatabaseThe final step is to assign or add the user to your database. In the image above, you will see two fields at the top of the screen with drop down boxes. On the left is the user field, and on the right the database field. Ensure that the user and database that you have just selected are visible, and then click on the <Add User to Db button>. You will now be taken to a final completion screen, similar to that shown below
Click on the Go Back link again, and you will then see your finished database details.
Take the time to write down the actual user name and database name which cpanel has assigned to you. This is because the names may vary slightly from those you typed in. Cpanel will probably add something to the front of each name. You will also need these names in the next section! And there we have it, you have learned to create a database in MySQL. Congratulations! Next we have SQL query examples, which is an illustration on how to set up your MySQL database tables using a predefined query file. If you want to go back, then this came from a tutorial on How to install PHP scripts |
