An Automatic Responder Overview

What is List Wonder?

Well, List Wonder is an Autoresponder, but a professional one - one that is up to the job of handling your lists.

Before I get into how this particular program works, I would like to spend a few moments discussing what your Autoresponder should be used for, what it could be used for (when used with care and caution) and for what it most certainly should not be used for.

What Autoresponders were designed for.

Autoresponders were designed to make your life easier. that is after all what computers are all about, isn't it? To make life simpler, so that you have more time for getting on with other things. They were designed to take the chore out of answering email when a standard answer is all that is needed. So in a nutshell, you ask someone if they want some information, if they do, they send an email to your Autoresponder, and the programs delivers the answer, without any further intervention by yourself.

Now that is a good saving of time!

So what else is an Autoresponder?

Well, they vary in quality and capability. With List Wonder, what you are actually getting is a database, which holds all of the details of your list.

Now, this is more like it. You are getting a system that holds the details of all of the people who have opted into your list.

Optin. Now there is an important word, and a key element of how Autoresponders should be used sensibly. Someone who has 'Opted In' to your list is someone who has volunteered to join your list of their own choice. This is very important.

So, the process is that you build a form (which List Wonder helps you to do), which you place on a web page. When the prospect reads your offer and wants more information, they choose to fill in the form, and submit their details. This information is then sent to your Autoresponder, which dispenses the information that your prospect wants automatically.

We will discuss the use of forms later.

You can also get people to access your Autoresponder by just giving them an email address to write to. So you don't actually need a form at all. This will also be discussed later.

The third way to add people's details is by hand, and it is with this method that you must be very careful.

One last thing here is the counterpoint to opting in. And that is opting out. You must give your prospect the option of not receiving your information any more.

Fortunately, List Wonder handles this automatically for you.

What Autoresponders could be used for.

Whilst Autoresponders were designed to dispense information to your optin subscribers, they can be used for maintaining and contacting your downline information. If used responsibly, this can be very useful and very helpful. But, the key word is responsible. I will discuss this method in more detail, but please do not abuse your downlines trust and bombard them with offers. Use this method for automating your initial contact with your downline, and for occasional contact when you find out something that can help them build their business.

Think of this as a support function, rather then a sales function.

If you help your downlines to build there business, and encourage them to do the same, your business will be much, much stronger. Not only will you be able to work towards a regular monthly income, but you will be helping others to do the same thing.

What Autoresponders should not be used for.

Please, please, please, do NOT use your Autoresponder for sending unsolicited mail. Do not add names and email addresses from people who have not specifically asked for it. I know that you are probably thinking that this is no different to adding the names of people in your downline manually to an Autoresponder? Well, I believe that there is a subtle difference. If someone has joined your downline, they are implicitly asking for help to get them started. Isn't that what you always hope for (and don't always get) when you join a program? I think so, so to my mind, helping your downline is a responsible use of an Autoresponder.

Feeding email addresses arbitrarily is not. Please don't do it!
