An Ad Rotator Overview

A Rotator is a program or script that allows you to store multiple url's. It then dispenses a single url to you which you put in your advertisements. When this link is clicked, the Rotator will show a different url. This is an excellent tool for use within Surf For Credit programs, since by their nature, they show your web site an awful lot of times.

Good Rotators will also allow you to control how many times any individual url is shown. You might be advertising a hot new program, and want to give it added exposure in its first few weeks. So you would change the weight of showings so that your new link would be shown say twice as many times as your other links.

I personally also like to embed Rotators within Rotators. You could achieve the same effect with one rotator by just changing the weight of the individual url's but it is easier to control if you have a set of url's that you universally want to show fewer times than your main programs.

So what I would do is set up my main programs as a single rotator, and my affiliate programs as another. Then I would set my affiliate program url's as a url within my main program rotator. In this way, my affiliate programs would have an equal split of the traffic as my main programs, divided amongst themselves. I hope this makes sense.

A cheap form of advertising is to amend your email signature and plug one of your programs. I have a rotator set up to do that within my email signatures, so when I send normal email, a selection of programs get more exposure. With clever crafting of your email message, you can cover a number of programs.
